Hexagram 16

Yú, weaving images

Gua Poem:
Anticipation. Harvest: establishing feudatories, moving legions
.

The great image says: Thunder emerges from the Earth, flying over the fields: YU. The ancient kings composed music, honored virtue, with dancers worshipped the Lord on High. They associated with the deceased ancestors.

Yú: the ideogram and the story (NEW). What does it mean for your question?
This hexagram is complementary to hex.9. Here you use your inspiration and motivation, in hex.9 you work diligently on what your project needs. Don't neglect the other side when you concentrate on one of the two, they need each other. Motivation without hard work goes nowhere, hard work without inspiration takes the color out of what you do.

Top 6: Obscure weaving of images. Accomplishments bring changes of heart. No fault.
When you start with an idea, a lot may still be obscure. Go ahead carefully, probing, listen to your intuition and the signs on your path. A fixed goal often gives a smaller result than a flexible one.
(Changes to hex.35) Mirror

6 at 5: Divining about affliction: persevering, not dying.
Inspiration will get lost if it is not caught within necessity or difficulty. Creativity will become reality when it comes up against a wall of obstinate matter, of unbelief, loneliness. When everything is too easy, creativity evaporates without crystallizing.

9 at 4: The germ of weaving images. There is great achievement. Do not doubt. You might get cowrie hairpins. (See the link about lines below)
Every creation starts deep inside. In a wish, a curiosity, an ideal. Others will sense it and get drawn to it, even when it is still invisible. Don’t doubt it or try to make it work. It will by itself if you give it room to grow. The germ is what all recognize, so they are united. Like when people see that all gods have the same root.
(Changes to hex.2)  Mirror

6 at 3: Big-eyed weaving of images: regret. Hesitation brings regret.
Wait for the right moment to act or react, for influencing or being influenced. Inspiration is not enough: actions need a base, boundaries, a form, and the right time and circumstances. Don't let the moment pass by - and bragging about what you are going to do (or waiting for consent) might cause exactly that.
(Changes to hex.62)  Mirror

6 at 2: Shielded between rocks. Not to the end of the day. divination auspicious.
It is good to be wary of influences, ideas, or things so you can shut out the bad ones. But don't let your own fears or ideas shut you down. Live with an open heart and listen to your intuition so that the good things come in, both tangible and mental.
(Changes to hex.40)  Mirror

Initial 6: Known for the weaving of images. pitfall.
Think twice before you turn an influence or idea into an action. Things are not always what they seem at first sight. Impulsive action can cause a lot of trouble - like when Adam and Eve got themselves sent out of Paradise. So think!
(Changes to hex.51)  Mirror

No lines changing: you can try to do things, but they may fail or even backfire. If there's nothing that should (or can) be done, then this might be a good time to relax and refuel. The Poem and the Image are guides that show you the best way to do that.

The Trigrams offer possibilities that the hexagram-texts don't show.
