What does it mean, 'inner' and 'outer trigram' (popup)
Heaven below Thunder: the people (or hexagrams) with Qián inside know about the laws of universe, nature, humanity, the earth, anything which can only exist if there is a strong structure supporting it. They show it in everything they are or do, and with Zhèn outside, this will be very evident and often sudden. There is a danger of exaggeration though, and since qián can be very dry, to the point of scorching, there is a chance of starving their surroundings or their own mind through severity.
Ideogram of the hexagram name: the first character dà is a big person, meaning big. The second character zhuàng is slit bamboo or chopped wood (left) and a scholar (right). It means vigor, young and strong, mighty, spectacular, solid, bravery, heroic, respect, expand, strengthen, intense, strive hard, appropriate.
The 'Great Image' says: Thunder up in Heaven: great vigor. The noble one will not tread a path without propriety.
Hex.34 is the contrast of 20, contemplating, getting an overview of a situation.
Hex.34 is the one who speaks up or acts when necessary. The one who knows about ethics and courage and honesty.
