Guà Jìng - Yáo Ying

Hexagram Mirrors - Line Reflections
(line pathways)

Mirror group 55.1-62.1-56.6-62.6

About strategy

55.1 yang: Meeting the associated lords. For ten days, no fault. To proceed brings honor.
The way to seek cooperation [patience and respect vv the lack of it].

62.1 yin: The flying bird causes a pitfall.
  Impulsive actions can cause harm.

Lines 55.1 and 62.1 are each others fanyao, like views on the same landscape but from a different side, Fire-Mountain and vv. Asking for different actions.

56.6 yang: Burning the bird's nest. The wanderer first laughs and afterwards cries. He loses his cattle at Yi. Pitfall.
Beware of the consequences of your actions. (shortsighted)

(the bird is the wanderer)

62.6 yin: Not meeting, but passing. The flying bird is caught in a net. Pitfall. This is rightly called a calamity and a disaster.
Beware of the consequences of the situation for your actions (judgment errors, missing the target)

Lines 56.6 and 62.6 are each others fanyao, like views on the same landscape but from a different side, Fire-Thunder and vv. Asking for different actions.

Lines 55.1 and 56.6 and also 62.1 and 62.6 are each others qianyao (upside-down). Here are similar actions but in different landscapes (complementary contexts).
What was up or outside, is now down or inside.

Mirror groups 55.1-62.1 and 59.1-61.1 are contrasts
(all yang lines of Mirror 55.1 are yin lines in Mirror 59.1 and vv)
Mirror 55.1 is about strategy
Mirror 59.1 is about making use of what the situations offers
