Yú, Weaving images

At left the character of Yú in modern fullform sript, like it is still used in Taiwan. At right the same character as found on oracle bones.

Xiàng 象. Meanings: elephant, appearance, shape, image, imitate, 像/象 be like, resemble, take after, look as if, seem, likeness (of sb.), portrait, picture.
Meanings of Yù
Meanings of Yù: enthusiasm; in advance, beforehand, make or get ready; participate in; pleased, content, happy, comfort; travel, a trip; to cheat, lie, hesitate, indecision.
All meanings have to do with images one paints, either for oneself or for others. "In advance" has to do with the ability to paint a mental image of the future.
It is generally assumed that yù (the shuttle) is the phonetic component: it only gives the sound to the character, not the meaning.
But language is in the first place based on sound and talking, not writing. So IMO the sound must have to do with the meaning.
