Hexagram Mirrors - Line Reflections
(line pathways)

Mirror grouping 37.3-42.3-38.4-41.4

About having strong structures

37.3 yang: The family people scold with severity. There is regret and discipline. Auspicious. Women and children giggle-giggle. Ends in distress.
Create and keep a strong stucture.

42.3 yin: Increase benefits by pitfall matters. Without fault. Be true, move central, report to the prince using the seal.
Knowing disaster creates a strong character. Time of crisis opens possibilities. (seal: token of your fief, of who you are)

Lines 37.3 and 42.3 are each others fanyao, like views on the same landscape but from a different side. Asking for different actions.
See Mirror-index for explanation.

38.4 yang: Squinting and alone. Meeting an eminent man. Associating truthfully, danger. Without fault.
Only when true to your own values you meet others who are also true.

41.4 yin: Decreasing one's afflictions, and sending the message swiftly brings joy. No fault.
Discarding everything which has no value creates a mind which others appreciate.

Lines 38.4 and 41.4 are each others fanyao, like views on the same landscape but from a different side. Asking for different (and complementary) actions.

Lines 37.3 and 38.4 and also 41.4 and 42.3 are each others qianyao (upside-down). Here are similar actions but in different (but complementary) landscapes (context). What was up, outside or mental, is now down, inside or physical.

Mirror groups a and b are contrasts
(all yang lines of Mirror 37.3 are yin lines in Mirror 31.4 and vv)

Mirror 37.3 is about having a strong structure
Mirror 31.4 is about actions and reactions which engage others.
